EXTERNAL INTERFACE PROVISIONING

Interfaces to external equipment (such as T1/E1 trunks, optical interfaces, etc.) must typically be configured at both ends and the status of the links monitored. The EMS can implemented to monitor traps or other status indicators on the interface, present a real-time indication of the status on the map view and chassis view of the system, and keep a record of the relevant data in the database. The EMS preserves a record of the configuration of the external interfaces and can upload or download configuration changes to the network element on demand.

The EMS also provides to the user an interface for entering, changing interface data, through a series of tables such as:

  • Trunk Table
  • OM Channels Table
  • Control Channels Table
  • Control Channel StatisticsTable
  • Trx Data Table
  • Trx Time Slot Table
